I'm going to be a daddy!
Now how the hell do I tell my wife . . . ?
Seriously, my wife and I confirmed today that we're going to be parents.
Baby Russell (AKA 'Cub') is due August 22, 2008. We're thinking Bruce III if it's a boy, and Emory Grayson (after Bride's college and favourite place) if it's a girl.
Wife took a pregnancy test the other day, and we'd scheduled an appointment with her 'lady-doctor' to confirm the results (Dr. Russell! No relation.).
My expectation was that we'd go in, take another test, schedule a follow-up, and that would be it. Instead, we got to see the baby and hear it's little heartbeat. Amazing. Words fail.
Needless to say, we're both incredibly happy.
Upon our return home, wife looked at me and said, 'I'm a Timelord.'
'What do you mean' I asked?
'I have two hearts beating in me,' she replied.
I love my wife.

All the best to you and your pretty cool wife! Speaking from experience, your life will never be the same again, but in a good way! Kids are so amazing. You'll start looking at the world in a completely different way. Be sure to buy the "What to Expect When You're Expecting" book. It takes you through the pregnancy day by day with a lot of great information for first time parents.
Just think - in a year or two you will be able to teach your child about the wonder and greatness that is George Lucas and all that he has given us! If your baby's first words are "May the Force Be With You" then you're on the right track!
Congratulations again and brace yourself for the crazy ride ahead!

Congratulations Bruce, and please extend them to your wife also. August 22 is an important date to us here, it marks the assassination of one of our leaders Micheal Collins in 1922. It would be good to have it mark something joyous too.
On a side note: I can have my people there to begin the genetic manipulation as soon as you give the word. Nanotechnology can be injected directly into your offspring as it grows even while your wife is asleep- she will never need to know. I only say because for some bizarre reason we have got a lot of resistance from mothers of children of "Project 14". You know what has to be done.

The Big Fella is a hero of mine. You think that due date happened by accident?
I will await the arrival of your science team. My wife has a strand or two of French dna that must be taken care of. All together now: 'For a brighter, better smelling tomorrow.'

Best of all, Bride promises that no matter how far along she gets, she'll still be willing to dress up like Wonder Woman, tie me me up in her 'magic' lasso (actually a long length of pineapple licorice), and make me tell the truth.
Feel free to share that with your listeners.

Yes, we have our 8-week scan tomorrow, which we get to tape. Should go well with that footage I took of the conception . . .
