Theater piece in the new Men's Vogue about the Northern Irish actor Ciaran Hinds, who spells his name like the Colonel, and effect I can't recreate since I don't know how to make a fada.
A quote from the article: 'Hinds (whose first name is pronounced KEER-in)'.
That can't be right.
Hey, I just learned how to make a fada. Option + E, then the accented vowel. Yippee! _________________ ***

Ctrl+Alt+A works for me, quick simple and easy. Well I do have to use it every day
Ciaran is (KEER-in), Ciarán is (KEER-Awn)[Awn as in Yawn]. That little fada makes all the difference.
Mr. Hinds is using it incorrectly, a shame. _________________ Lt. Colonel "Whopper" Creedon

Parisian Ciarán is in that "There Will Be Blood" movie, which looks to be in line for a best film nomination. So he may need to get that whole pronunciation thing straight for the masses. Maybe. Didn't sound likely that he himself would be nominated, so we may not hear our proper Corky Ciarán's name mangled on (inter)national tv.

I'm sure it's more far likely that this "Men's Vogue" is incorrect with their phonetic pronounciation and that Mr. Hinds pronounces his first name as the Colonel does. _________________ Former Grunt

What is this Men's Vogue anyway? It sounds like it should be an oxymoron. _________________ Lt. Colonel "Whopper" Creedon

It is a monthly men's magazine that I found myself subscribed to some time back. I think it is best described thusly: Less gay than GQ, more gay than Esquire. _________________ ***

Alas, most all *legitimate* American men's magazines, even the ones whose European counterparts could be described as 'tit-slingers,' are mostly mammary-free. _________________ ***

If a guy had the choice between a magazine with them or without them, I think the decision would be the same every time and would be an easy one. Breasts are magnificent! Even gay men like them, or so I've read! If I were running for president, my slogan would be 'Russell: More Tits in 2008!'
NOTE: That one tested better in focus group than: 'Russell 2008: Show Us Your Knockers.' _________________ ***
